Gravity Chase

Welcome to the futuristic anti-gravity arcade racer with a twist. Gravity Chase racing competition takes place on tunnel tracks for super-fast 360 degree Zero G racing. Skill and precision piloting are required to follow the optimum line along with strategic use of pickups, powerups and weapons in order to progress through the race series. Delayed for 3 years and this is what we get… this is certainly no F-Zero successor, it has zero graphics or display options, zero explanation of any of the game mechanics, zero campaign, zero gameplay or fun, and that unfortunately means its a big fat zero out of 10 from me.

Anti gravity racing with a twist – Race along the floor, walls and ceiling to achieve the optimum racing line. 10 unique ships with customizable colors and powerups. 16 unique tracks across multiple themed environments. 1 – 4 player split screen action. Boost, repair and arm your ship with in-race pickups. 3 exciting race types – Arcade, Combat and Eliminator. In game currency – Win races to earn money that can be used to customize and upgrade your ships. With each attempt, you also collect gold and other currencies that you will use to purchase perma-upgrades. Those purchases are perfectly immersed (e.g. you see the castle growing the more you buy) into the game and for at least 40h you’ll feel very encouraged to grind. There are a total of 6 different areas that are well differenciated and will be approach differently, in a way I tolerated but didn’t like too much.

In essence, later areas will feature many enemies with homing attacks, piercing attacks (that goes through walls), and AoE and multi-directional attacks, which feels like a cheap way to make an area harder. Eventually you’ll get used to it and it doesn’t make the game broken. This game is addicting as heck. Probably the best feature IMO is the House Rules. I am a most terrible platformer, but really wanted to do the 100% achievements despite that. (Flying on for Sun Tower, thank you very much!) The Scar challenges were something else also! I enjoyed the game without house rules first play through, then dove in grinding all those achievements. Don’t get me wrong even with some House Rules it is not an easy feat, but worth it! I’m really happy I played Rogue Legacy first, as 2 just made everything better, prettier and even more accessible. I hope there is a Rogue Legacy 3 in the future.
